Our Story
“The heart of yumkimbap’s origin comes from my fond picnic memories growing up.”
The joy of savoring a delightful kimbap rice roll was only possible during those picnics because it was the only time my Korean mother would make them.
Curiosity got the better of me though, and I would ask her every week, "Why can't we have kimbap every day?" The answer was simple – the labor-intensive process involved in crafting these rolls. From sourcing all the ingredients to the meticulous slicing, dicing, marinating, and the final art of rolling, my mother explained that kimbap was a labor of love, reserved for family gatherings and special occasions.
While it's true you can find kimbap in some local Korean markets or the frozen section of some grocery stores, none could match the taste and magic of my mother's homemade version. And so, the idea to start yumkimbap was born.
Together with my mother, we aim to bring you the same fresh, delicious, wholesome, healthy, and satisfying kimbap that filled my childhood memories!
